Adam Lambert showered with praise after incredible collaboration with Queen for New Year’s Eve celebrations

Adam Lambert joined forces with rock legends Queen last night for an incredible concert to mark the 2014 New Year’s Eve celebrations – and Twitter loved every second.

The US singer and 2009 American Idol runner up was pitch-perfect as he took on some of the band’s greatest hits in the BBC live show, including Don’t Stop Me Now as Big Ben chimed 12.

He joined Brian May and Roger Taylor on stage and was greeted with huge applause from the 2000-strong crowd in the Central Hall in Westminster.

The show – which was called Queen + Adam Lambert Rock Big Ben Live – was presented, alongside the fireworks display, by Radio One DJs Greg James and Gemma Cairney.

2015 started with quite the bang.

Join DJ Nika to celebrate the music of Queen as interpreted by Adam Lambert. Fans were treated to a sneak preview of some of the new music that will be coming on Queen + Adam Lambert’s worldwide tour, which launches tomorrow in Chicago. The stunner of the preview show, which occurred this Monday at the iHeart Theater in Burbank, California, was “Love Kills”, Freddie Mercury’s first solo single which he wrote as part of the soundtrack to Fritz Lang’s classic film Metropolis. Adam took the disco-inflected original and re-imagined it as a heart-wrenching ballad, and we know no one can top Adam in the heart-wrenching ballad department!

Join fellow listeners and fans for an hour of music, discussion and chatroom chat! What was your favorite song from the iHeart Theater show? What Queen songs do you most hope to hear on the tour? What better way to spend the eve of the Queen + Adam world tour than to pump up the anticipation and joy with those who truly can savor this moment in time?

(Raja is Adam’s friend make up artist, winner of RuPaul Darg Race and yes, a truly stunning performer)

It was that great philosopher of modern culture, RuPaul, who said “You were born naked. The rest is drag.” Whether you pile on the sequins and transform your appearance with make-up and wigs, or simply suit up in pinstripes and heels, we all package ourselves. We project an image to the world that reflects who we want to be seen as. Usually this appearance is dictated by social codes, by what others expect to see if you are a doctor, construction worker, artist or Mom. You’re playing by someone else’s rules. What’s so subversive about drag queens is that they project what they themselves want the world to see. A man who wants huge boobs and to make the audience laugh. A man who wants to the world to gasp at a vision of glamour and ethereal beauty.

Our topic tonight – What is drag? What’s yours? And most importantly, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO WEAR TO THE QUEEN + ADAM SHOW? Enjoy this interview and let your mind expand!
